The article ‘Strategic Organizational Diversity: A Model?’ talks about importance of the strategic management of human resource for the efficient operation of an organization. The article stresses the need of diversity in an organization for its success as it increases innovation and improves problem solving capacity. It reduces the exposure to high risk and increases the chances of high return on investment. It also states the role of human resource manager in recruiting and increasing the organizational diversity which is strategically aligned with the goals of the organization.

I strongly agree with the views of the author of this article. In today’s world of globalization it is imminent that a company expands its base in various parts of world. Hiring local people limits the long term capability of the organization. A diverse work culture provides a new perspective to the situation. With diversity comes difference in capability, experience and background which if strategically aligned with the goals and ambitions of the company can be a rewarding engagement for the company as well as the employee. Let me quote an example of diversity in our team. We have one Indian, one Chinese and three domestic students which brings with them an experience of emerging markets as well as developed economy. It is this experience of that provides a different perspective in our mutual study in the program. Apart from the work, it’s the effect of the richness of the culture that affects the team as a whole. All of us has different culture norms, set of practices that we follow, difference in food and language. Even though we have a language barrier, communication is still astounding and strong. It’s because of this culture diversity that I am getting an experience of working with other international

students. This is a learning experience as its increase my tolerance towards other culture and will help me adjust quickly when in diverse work culture.
