Community Service Planning

As part of our CSP, we will be organizing a book donation drive. With this, we aim to provide the unfortunate children with more resources as well as increase the awareness of their situation. During the time spent, we will be collaborating with the organization and provide tuition services for these children in the home. We hope to empower them with different skills through sharing with them some of our experiences and interaction with them. Through this project, we hope to make an impact on the lives of these children so that they will have a greater sense of confidence knowing that there are people out there who really care for them.

In addition, our project would also serve as a good learning platform for us, as we are able to learn more about the lives of these children and thus cherish what we have now. Also, it teaches us to be more aware of our surroundings. We’ll be able to step out of our comfort zone and lend a helping hand to those who appreciates it.

We are planning to execute the book donation drive week 7. The location would likely be in the home. We will be doing advertising before the donation drive to increase awareness. Also, starting from week 6, we will be going down to the home to provide tuition services at least three times a week. Each tuition session should last from 1 to 1.5 hours and we will rotate the roles amongst ourselves. We look forward to a fruitful partnership with The Tent.

1.2 Proposed programme timeline

- Get permission to use the ground

- Set dates to set up booth for donation drive to be carried out

- Send out emailers to students/advertise about it

- Set up the booth after the dates are being confirmed

- Collect the books

- Sieve out the books that are appropriate or in good condition

- Pack the books according to language

- Check with the home which are the suitable books are the children

- Bring the books down to the home
