Dell Inc. is an American multinational computer technology corporation based in 1 Dell Way, Round Rock, Texas (near Austin), that develops, sells and supports computers and related products and services. The company is traded on the NASDAQ stock exchange under the symbol DELL. The company’s name comes from its founder; Michael Dell is one of the largest technological corporations in the world, employing more than 103,300 people worldwide. Dell is listed at number 41 in the Fortune 500 list and is the 6th largest company in Texas (Wikipedia, 2012). It is the third largest PC vendor in the world after HP and Lenovo. In order to understand Dell Inc. as a whole this paper will explore their culture, domestic and international strategy and positioning, financial locus, and foreign business dealings.
As the third largest computer company in the world, Dell Inc. is one of the leading technology companies, offering a broad range of products, including desktop PCs, servers, networking products, storage, mobility products, software and peripherals, television sets, and services. The company primarily operates in the US with its main command center located north of Austin, Texas in the small suburb of Round Rock. For over the past twenty-six years Dell has employed more than 96,000 employees, in the United States and abroad. Michael Dell, founder and Chief Executive Officer, has maintained Dell’s dominate force in the market with innovating technology and diversifying the brand.
