The authors, professors at Georgia Southern University, contradict the findings of Westfall below. They state they found positive support that telecommuting increases productivity and that the increase becomes mores substantial over time after conducting a research experiment with a call center. The report measured productivity in the amount of work, intensity of the work, and efficiency of the work. In the report, they speak directly to other organizations to encourage them to conduct similar research to see if other organizations can find the same results.

The author, Assistant Professor of Communication at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, outlines the benefits of telecommuting for the employee. The report explains that being out of the office can have a bigger positive impact on the employee of an organization than actually reporting to work and dealing with the stressors of office politics. The intended audience of the report is for workers and human resource employees who can request telecommuting or influence change towards telecommuting in the workplace. Fonner has done extensive research in the area of telecommuting and is an expert on the subject.
