Art 101 Capstone Checkpoint

Art is in areas people never thought of looking. People see art in their life every day. Art can be what we want it to be if we use our creative thoughts. In small towns with rural areas art is very scarce. The Historical Museum Society in the small town where I live is created by businesses and citizens that want to bring our town back to existence. The Historical museum special attraction is collections of past and present life of the county. There are pictures of the town in former years. Photos of a variety of historical locations in and around the county are on exhibit in the museum. The town has houses on Main Street which are historic and have been renovated. The houses have good architecture with scrolls and columns. The Victorian Era conjoined jail and sheriff’s home, one of hardly any known to exist today has been renovated. The old jail has the genuine locking mechanism, jail cells, writing and graffiti left behind by prisoners on the walls. There is a Genealogy Research Center in the home section of the jail. The Historical society committee wants to leave the old jail intact with the majority of the original material. The businesses and citizens have monthly conferences to schedule an Art Exhibit and festival in October. In October the Kaolin Festival takes place and is filled with events to be enjoyed by families and their friends in our town. The art show will have artistry of local artists exhibited in the Brown House Museum. The Kaolin Festival includes the Kaolin Parade with marching bands, vibrant floats, and dancing performers. The day of the parade vendors selling art and crafts, foods, and other items are on the town square. There are rides and games for the children. There should be something more done to show the towns appreciation of arts. There is several old building with beautiful architecture in and around town. My role in this creation is little, but I support these proceedings by attending yearly and buying several items and foods....
