Overview of Organization

Apple Alley Café is a small family restaurant in Grass Valley, CA which is approximately 40 miles NE of Sacramento, CA. It currently employs nine people ranging with a wide variety of qualifications. The restaurant is rated as one of the top restaurants in the area on several websites, such as Yelp.

Executive Summary

A needs assessment was performed on the three cooks that are the primary cooks for the restaurant. The cooks are responsible for providing the customers with high quality food and consistent food with every customer, regardless of who is cooking. The cooks are responsible for not only cooking, but cleaning, maintaining inventory, ordering and communicating status to the owners of the business. If a new back of house employee is hired, such as a dishwasher or a new cook, they are responsible for assisting in training of the new employee.

Based on the organizational, person, and task analysis, the results indicated the importance of a training intervention in the area of consistency within the food that is being put out to customers.
