Stress Management

In the course of Practical Psychology for Everyday Life, I have learnt more about love, communication, stress, self-awareness and so on. The most significant for me is that I have understood more about myself. The topic which is useful and impressionable for me is the Stress Management. After learning this topic, I can identify what is stress and become aware of handling pressure.

The most common definition of stress is a condition or feeling experienced when a person perceived that demands were exceeded the personal and social resources than the individual is able to mobilize. (Attributed to Richard S. Lazarus) In some ways, stress is a normal physically response to events that make you feel threatened or upset, and then it will affect your normal pattern in your daily life. When people are over stressed, it may become a problem and will affect their health by skin disorders and digestive system diseases. This is the main reason why we need the stress management. In order to manage stress effectively, there are varieties of tools we can apply. Recognizing unspoken rules is one of the ways for us to cope with stress. Unspoken rules are some expectations or rules about how to regulate ourselves and how other people should behave toward us. Experts in human behavior such as Aaron Beck and Albert Ellis have written extensively about unspoken rules in our lives. For example, “I must work very hard all the time, people should not ask me to do what I don't want to do.” Besides, these unspoken rules are usually influencing our daily lives and it will become a major cause of stress.

Modern life is full of hassles, deadlines, frustrations and demands. All of us face stress in our lives. For me, stress often interfere my life. I feel stressed all the time because I am always worrying about my study and results, even the format and style of calligraphy of the work.
