1. Introduction

A report which has a minimum of 1000 words has been requested by both Liz Brown and Mark Hetherington on the subject of the ‘Star Trek Convention’ in London. The report is to be submitted on 6th December 2012.

Star Trek is a science fiction show on television that takes place in the future. The original Star Trek, the iconic TV franchise began in 1966, and the show was also revived in several series, The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and Voyager, called "Enterprise" after the space ship. There have also been several movies starring the crews of the television series. The starship's mission is to explore new worlds, trekking where no Earthling has gone before.

Attending any of the Star Trek Conventions, visitors are able see their favourite stars from all generations of the legendary television series and movie franchise. They will be able to take photos with stars, get autographs, listen to speeches and join some interesting shows.

The purpose of this report is to examine the economic, social and political impacts that this event had on the public, local communities, the surrounding area and London as a whole. The information will be gathered using the internet, public sources of information and information of the author’s adventure.
