My Story on How I Met My Girlfriend

It was June 18, 2007 and I was shipping out to Marine Corps bootcamp. At that point I had already decided to leave everything I knew behind and start a new life for myself. Not only was i leaving my family but also everyone i ever knew. The time that I arrived to Marine Corps recruit depot San Diego, it was the 19th. The 19th, which now has become the most important number in finding my true love.

I have done a lot of stupid things in my life before the corps, during and after but some of the worst things was my selection in woman. Now looking back at my past, I wonder why I dated some of those woman for as long as I had but from that, I've learned that everyone you ever dated served a great purpose to prepare you for what's next and eventually lead you to the one.

I was two years in the Marines and was just coming back from my first combat deployment. On my arrival back to the states, I had discovered that my girlfriend at the time had found a new boyfriend while I was over seas and had failed to tell me. disappointed I was, but almost feeling relieved. I knew how she was and was already expecting the worst before I left.

So ready I was to visit home after almost a year since the last time I saw my family and friends and wanted to put my past girlfriend behind me. My friends were expecting me and had a party lined up for my return and it was there that I met a girl.

Enjoying the music and almost feeling fearless from Surviving my first combat tour. It felt like I can take on anything and do anything without thinking twice. There, Without fear, I walked up to a blonde girl who was playing a drinking game and I introduced myself. You know that one day in your life that if it didn't happen, everything would have been different? The day that changed a lot of things and the outcome of where you are now? That was that day.
