1. What rating will you propose for Alma based on MDA’s media classification? Why?

The rating I will propose for Alma based on MDA’s media classification is Parental Guidance. The film “Alma” contained supernatural content such as dolls that can come to life. Therefore, parents can watch it first to measure the suitability of the content of the film before deciding whether or not their children should watch it. Also, parents can guide the children when watching the film to avoid negative influence on children’s growth.

2. Propose ONE time slot and ONE appropriate channel for screening. Choose any channel from EITHER subscription TV or FTA TV. Justify your answers.\

The time slot can be from 10pm-6am, which is after family-viewing hours. This can be done to avoid a larger audience of young viewers. The film “Alma” should also be screen on subscription TV- Star World channel. Subscription TV is the direct contractual relationship between service provider and subscriber. This allows consumers to be aware of the programme’s rating before making a decision to view. The film “Alma” can be easily mistaken as an innocent and fun cartoon to watch for younger viewers. But in actual fact, it is not safe for children to watch it alone. Subscription TV is more flexible compared to FTA TV, as consumers can be conscious of what they are going to watch. Subscription TV has the benefit of choosing when to watch the film that makes it safer in general for family with younger kids.
