Entrance Essay to Ph.D.

What has motivated you to achieve a doctoral degree?

When I started in 2010 on my Keller Graduate Master’s degree in Project Management, I had the joyous benefit of asking myself in the Master’s program about my personal goals and beliefs as I applied to a Project Management scholarship. Am I gaining on my goals with a Master’s degree? To make matters better and more interesting, President Obama was asking the same question of America. I hadn’t thought about before as a plan, but Obama said that “Yes, you can” make a difference: you just need the push. During that year, there was a vote on continuing loans for undergraduates and graduate students. And I thought to myself that this is providence! Loans were being voted on and Obama said Yes, you can!” So I thought now is the time to make that difference by first acknowledging if the vote pass that I can continue a higher education.

What do you envision you will differently when you degree is complete?

After I complete my Master’s degree then I can also continue for a Doctorate degree! With a Bachelor’s degree from University of Missouri-Rolla in Engineering Management, a Master’s degree from Keller Graduate in Project Management, and a Doctorate from Grand Canon University (GCU) in Business Administration with an Emphasis Management, I could work in industry as a researcher or organizational consultant like Dr. W. Edwards Deming. In addition a Doctorate degree could enable me to as AACSB International states “explore strategic directions, consumer behaviors, financial projections, and a variety of other areas of business. Some professional organizations also specialize in this, for instance consulting agencies.” With GCU I feel I can achieve President Obama’s “Yes, you can” idea within myself. I am going to be a Management Consultant Specialist and I am sure my path was brought upon via one of the best management structured backgrounds in management industry.
