ART AND CULTURE

THEATRE – the basic part of culture in any nation in the world. It has always been the moment of eagerness when the performance starts and the curtain goes up. The actors are playing (acting) on the stage (sometimes revolving), and the audience is sitting in a pit, or in stalls, in boxes, in dress circle or upper circle.

In some theatres there is good x bad (poor) acoustics for hearing music or speech. You can get in closer contact with the stage.

Can you name any famous dramatists (playwrights) ? (Shakespeare – Romeo and Juliet, Othello, Eugune O ´Neill – Streetcar named Desire, Arthur Miller – After the fall)

In GB the centre of cultural life is in London naturally, mainly its West End with the best theatres in the world. Fine music is played in Covent Garden, Royal Opera House, in Royal Albert Hall – for more than 6 000 people at one concert. Pop music concerts are played at Wembley Stadium for about 80 000 fans.
