INTRODUCTION
Japan, also known as “The land of rising sun”, is famous for its unique culture, practices, art, literature and cuisine. Japan’s society has been heavily influenced by traditions of many different nations. Initially, in the 6th century the Japanese followed Chinese lifestyle, religion and government system. Buddhism and Confucianism integrated in the Japanese, during the Tang dynasty, even some of the political decisions were made by highly ranked monks’. However, the government structure started changing once the kings/monarchs started allotting majority of time to leisure activities, and handed it over to the aristocrats. In the late 18th century, Japan started modernizing under the leadership of Meiji. This led Japan to become one of the world powers, which brought tremendous wealth to the country, along with western culture. At the end of world-war II, Japan was struggling economically, their infrastructure had been damaged, they had lost 2 million lives, and were falling short of ration. After the Americans undertook Japan, they started changing all the institution. The education system was completely replaced; the political body was democratized; they demilitarized and industrialized the nation. Some of these changes worked really well for Japan. The new education system was a major factor in helping Japan rebuilds itself after the war to its current position. Japan has changed dramatically throughout the years.
