Ghazal is a love poem in which a speaker seeks to secure the love and attention of another. The poem gives the impression that the feelings of the speaker are not shared by the purpose of their affections. On the other hand Quick draw is a one-sided snapshot of a relationship. The speaker of the poem is waiting for contact from his lover. It comes to clear that some sort of disagreement or separation has happened between the lovers.

ghazals, is made up of a sequence of two-line stanzas .The two lines of the stanzas do not rhyme but the end of each stanza does, partly through the repetition of the word "me".In the fourth stanza the speaker uses the metaphor of a snake charmer with their snake, another example of a pairing that is useful. The suggests to a "spell" hints at the powerful magic of love is able to change or even to "subdue" a venomous snake.

If I am the laurel leaf in your crown, you arethe arms around my bark, arms that never knew me.

This couplet presents the metaphor of the speaker as a leaf from a tree; but the only contact they have with their loved one is through the tree's bark. possibly the speaker feels as if they have always been in the shadows. By this quote we get to know that the writer is creating a character who appears to have low self-esteem; the purpose of their affection is a high, worthy of crowns while the speaker is just a leaf in that crown.

Unlike ghazal, the love shown in quick draw explores the highs and lows of a romantic relationship. the poem starts by replacing the word weapons with mobile phones "like guns, slung from the pockets on my hips". By this the writier is making a funny comment on the way in which relationships can be like a fight, or "showdown", but the metaphors also suggests violence in the characters.

There is a light-hearted mood to the poem, created by descriptions that are typical of slapstick "I twirl the phone,then squeeze the trigger of my tongue". Here the metaphor of the tongue as a weapon...
