Crisis intervention demands prompt and effective decision making yet there are several obstacles in training helpers on the skills needed to accomplish its goals. There are few objectives concerning training for crisis intervention. One concerns the capability to make fast and good decisions in the depths of a crisis. This is incredibly important and difficult (Janet, 2002).

Therefore, without a doubt I personally agree that not everyone is suitable to do crisis intervention work as it is very demanding. Crisis, the word itself has six definitions to it. An individual not knowing how to response to a situation , personal complications or situations that attenuate people and forbid them from consciously managing their lives, and facing difficulties to important life goals are few definitions for crisis. Crisis has various meaning for different people though having considerable number of definitions (Richard,2012).

The characteristic of crisis gives us a better knowledge on understanding crises, which holds a huge role in crisis intervention. The presence of both danger and opportunity pose the danger of how an individual could be overwhelmed to an extent where it leads to serious pathology which includes homicide and suicide. The pain one receives through crisis, prompt them to seek help which is classified under opportunity. The necessity of choice, when one is given the option to brave the critical situation in life, or not. The major role played in crisis is the perception of the situation. Complicated symptom, knowing that understanding crisis is difficult. Seeds of growth and changes explain the presence of disequilibrium which advances to anxiety. In Crisis, there is brief therapy but no fast fixes. The final characteristic of crisis is universality and idiosyncrasy, the possibility to develop mental disorders.
