Part One

I would have to be realistic about my decision and base it on the reality that society today will lean more towards the celebrity story more than hearing about the city council. The role of the media is to take the story that most will find interesting. With a celebrity death, providing that the death was not caused by old age, you would want to know the mystery of the death, how did it happen, where were they when it happened, what were they doing, and with whom. It really would be nothing new to anyone that the City Council has made a decision that would benefit him or her more than the neighborhood that is being affected. Although, it would be sad and the community would be upset, it would be something that they know would happen eventually.

For some neighborhoods, this would be nothing new at all. They may already have a park that is closed or not safe or clean enough for the kids to use, so they would want to listen to the celebrity news. When you are in a middle-income neighborhood the story of the city council would interest them, since their parks are open, clean, and safe to use. This would also affect their interest when election time comes and they have to vote on the members of the council.

News media has the responsibility to report all news. They are responsible to make sure that the public knows what is going on within their community and also around the world. Reporters know that this will affect you in some way.

With society today, the fastest way to get the news out to the public is to post online. Some prefer to read the news this way, since they can choose which story they want to read more about and also do further research quicker on a particular story. With the use of Twitter, you can actually know what is going on as it happens. Most of society has used this to follow a celebrity; you also have many companies that have Twitter accounts for the public to know what they are doing. Retailers use this to send out messages on...
