“In Recent years, educators have expressed an increased interest in team-oriented instruction” (Roebuck, 1998, p.35). This was the introduction to an article written inbefore many of the technological advances in communication we have today. 1998. [Since the date has already been given, this seems redundant. Either omit entirely, or change the focus to the name of the organization that produced the statement.] Today, this team-oriented instruction has grown by leaps and bounds and has proved to be a global asset for businesses and colleges alike. Virtual Teams can be any combination of individuals with varying backgrounds coming together with the latest communication technology to work towards one goal.

Virtual teams can be successful in the business world as well as the world of academics. However, as with the traditional team setting, there are going to be conflicts and difficulties. One of these difficulties is communication. Communication problems occur in Virtual Teams as much if not more than in the traditional team setting. Language barriers, delays in replies, time differences, technological issues and trust are all problems that are faced when trying to communicate as a virtual team. In this paper I am going to focus on the language barriers, technological issues and trust. [Delete—the previous sentence provides a better introductory statement.]
