Acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) is a worldwide epidemic that is a relatively young disease, which continues to have a uniform effect on the worldwide cultures and countries. This committee will not focus on the biological aspects of AIDS, which induces and weakens the immune system and its ability to break down and fight off infections. This committee would like to focus on how severe of an issue it has progressed to, and the importance of this matter to Spain, and possible solutions that are amenable. 

In the 1990's Spain was the European country most heavily affected by the AIDS epidemic, but in the recent years has progressed and substantially reduced greatly. Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) spread widely among abundant number of injecting drug users and sexually active young adults which led to AIDS- related mortality being ranked first among the major causes of potential years of life lost in Spain. 

 Spain would like to stress on the importance of this matter, especially since the ramifications previously induced of AIDS concerning Spain, and would assist Africa by granting them the solutions that provided a reduced AIDS rate for Spain. Spain believes strongly in the continued presence of the United Nations, in order to reduce the high sum of people infected with AIDS, aid women to become economically sufficient, to create programs that will allow women to refuse unsafe sex practice. To make condoms more accessible is an effective way to reduce the risk of HIV infection from intercourse. The information about the correct use of condoms needs to be taught in schools, clinics and churches in a gender-neutral language. To increase the access to testing on HIV and AIDS, free testing areas are not available especially in rural areas where most of the population lives.
