1. How do you think a small margin for error affects communication on a project?

Depending on the project, any business should be prepared for errors to happen especially human errors. When a project requires a small to zero margin for error that would mean that communication has to not only be priority but also effective. Leaders have to know how to communicate what they want to have done and employees need to not only listen but be able to communicate when they need help in areas.

2. In what ways do you act differently in a face-to-face meeting than you do during a telephone conference call?

There are many ways you would act differently in a face to face meeting than you would during a telephone conference call. For one you would act as though you would give the presenter you undivided attention. There would be direct eye contact as well as note taking. In a telephone conference call you could be doing other work while trying to listen to what was being said as well as nonverbal communication like rolling eyes or shaking your head that would not happen if you were in a face to face call.

3. Why is written communication essential in some situations (such as conveying specifications), while oral communication is essential in others (such as technology interchange transfers)?

Written communication would be essential when you want someone to do specific detail oriented instructions. This is valuable so that the person could read over what was being said so that they could do the job right. Oral communication is valuable when the person could have some freedom to be creative and do what they think the job needs to be like to get done.

4. What listening hurdles do you find yourself facing as you listen to others? How do you handle it when you believe someone you’re speaking to is not hearing what you say?

My hurdles that I go through when I try to listen to someone are when they use improper English, such as double negatives and “hillbilly” talk....
