As we have already known, in Singapore, Singtel is one of the biggest telecommunication companies. In order for Singtel to be on the competitive edge, they have expanded into other sectors.

In Singtel’s expansion, Singtel have entered other sectors such as wireless and Internet platforms for voice, data services and service-oriented business. Singtel does not only participate in Singapore, they have also created customers with Asia-Pacific regions. Singtel focuses on Internet service providers, mobile phones and telephone communication services.

Singtel has been successful due to their resources and capabilities.

Strengths are resources and capabilities that allow the firm to complete important tasks. Resources can be the tangible and intangible assets held by the firm, and capabilities result when the firm integrates several different resources to complete a task or a series of related tasks. Singtel being a government-owned company and having major stakeholders such as Temasek Holdings has a strong cash flow. Singtel is Singapore’s Top 10 brands in 2009. It was ranked 6th. Being a top brand means that customers are satisfied with the services provided by Singtel.

Singtel also have the right to broadcast the English Premier League (EPL), which, was initially broadcasted by Starhub Cable TV. This started in 2009 and currently, Singtel secures the broadcast of EPL until 2015, starting in August 2013. (Singtel secures Premier League rights BY Ian McPherson). In return, Singtel will win more customers who will switch from Starhub to Singtel.

SingTel has a diverse spread of geographical operations.
