Beneficial change in Education

Why are most European Countries and Asian Civilizations more educated than most Americans? When I am working with foreigners at my job, I noticed that most of the kids already know two languages. When I was in High School, I noticed that Asians did the best out of everyone even if they are taking an English class that isn’t their native tongue. Obviously there is a discipline that is not currently present in the American ways which is shown in everyday life. Foreign governments seem to understand that education is more powerful than anything else in a youngster’s life. If America wants to keep up with other world powers, were going to need to step up our education and start pumping out kids that are able to compete with the foreigners. I feel with the way the media is, the new shows that are coming on T.V, and the way our current educational system is being ran, that were only slowing ourselves down. If we want to compete in the education battle, we are going to have to change our education process and we are going to have to start disciplining the next generation and mold them in to smart individuals.

First off, European countries have it right. They force their students to learn English. It’s a dominant language throughout the world, and the government realizes that their kids need to learn this language. American schools urge you to take foreign classes but you don’t have to. I never did in High School and I feel that America should start forcing their students to do this. American schools have shorter school days, and kids have a lot more free-time on their hands then the foreign schools. What do American kids do when they have more free time? They sit around and watch T.V or play sports and the few smart individuals join clubs. Sports isn’t a bad occupation, but if one works on athletics way more than his education, then more kids are going to slack behind and they won’t succeed in the educational world. We need to...
