When a firm considers moving operations management overseas, the manager of a firm has to think about the following questions:

1. Is the long term cost more important than short-term benefits?

2. Does the firm suffer a long-term harm to its relationship instead of a short-term saving?

3. Is losing control over working situations, employee conditions, and environmental issues worth saving money?

4. Are there any other options besides moving to abroad? Does the cost offset somewhere else?

When a biggest company wants to invest in foreign companies, they have to think about a lot of things before they begin. For example, this article mentions that a shoes company in other countries and makes some negative effect. If a firm makes the damage to social responsibility, it is very difficult to overcome. Even though 10 million dollars would be saved, the firm will lose control over working conditions, employee’s situations, and other critical issues. All the drawbacks the company will undertake because they just pay attention to short-term benefits. In my opinion, I think this firm does not have to save 10 million dollars. Therefore, they can improve their products’ quality. In the future, a lot of consumers will buy their products, and then the firm will make more money than 10 million dollars.
