Business Golf Plan

The business golf outing scheduled for Friday, October 19, is a tremendous opportunity for me to gain understanding not only in spending time with a business professional on the golf course, but a chance to play in my first scramble and first golf outing. I think the overall purpose of this golf outing will be for me to get a first hand experience in how much body language and personality reflect in 1st impressions during a more formal business setting. Learning how to effectively communicate with coworkers and customers over a long period of time like this will be both experience and life lessons that could really be of great value in the real world. Because of this, I have very high hopes for the outing. I have been looking forward to it all semester! I expect to gain knowledge of both my professional’s career, as well as his experience in dealing with different customer situations both in the office and on the course, and how they correlate. Another expectation that I don’t want to lose sight of, is how I want to enjoy myself! I have been very excited and don’t want to hinder my experience from nerves or frustration.

I have done a bit of research on each of the three players I have been paired with. Steve Vermeesch is a senior finance major expecting to graduate in the spring of 2013. He enjoys golf and has been playing for a long time. He also enjoys tennis. Rory Rinnan is graduating at the same time, but is a Supply Chain Major. He, like me, is a sports fanatic, and has played hockey for most of his life. He, as well as golf, enjoys relaxing and playing cards. Our professional, Matthew Sims, is a Financial Adviser for Hantz Financial. He offers financial guidance in maintaining investment income, along with other various advising plans for people’s future. He has state registrations in four states in the Midwest, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio and Illinois.
