Part I

Select three of the identity categories below and name or describe at least 3 related stereotypes for each:

Answer each question in 50 to 100 words related to those stereotypes. Provide citations for all the sources you use.

What are the positive aspects of stereotypes, if any?

In reading this week’s chapter there were no positive aspects of stereotypes mentioned. In my own opinion I do not think any positive aspects exist because it is an assumption of other people that would not be considered completely truthful, or unbiased.

What are the negative aspects of stereotypes?

Stereotypes negative aspects are “negative traits to entire groups of people,

which are then applied to particular individuals.” (Race and Ethnic Groups, Ch.2, pg.40.) Also based on the chapter stereotypes target certain groups, and the views people have of others. An example of stereotyping it “causes people to view Blacks as superstitious,...
