Ticketmaster

Since its conception in 1976, Ticket Master has been the industry leader in event management ticketing technologies amassing “virtually” a monopoly. Ticket Master uses inventory management software known as ARCHTICS®, which operates in a manner similar to cloud computing; “Ticketmaster provides its clients with comprehensive ticket inventory control and management” ("Ticketmaster Entertainment LLC - Annual Report (10-K) Part I", 2013). In an Internet video by Sr. Vice President of Product Development of Ticketmaster, Davidson (2013) states that [“One of the needs we have for a data base system is it must be stand alone. We cannot have a DBA (data base administrator) managing the system all the time; the SQL Anywhere database really runs on its own, and that is important because our clients have minimal to no I.T. staff; they have no DBA experience]. The inventory management software licensed by Ticketmaster has two programs known as Advanced Product Suite and Access Manager. Sybase Technology develops; upgrades, and maintains programs utilized by Ticketmaster as a host-partnering corporation.

Archtics inventory management by Sybase technology allows clients to manage and fulfill event-ticketing operations “through operator-staffed call centers, independent sales outlets remote to the facility box office and through the ticketmaster.com website and related international websites. Ticketing revenue is generated principally from convenience charges and order processing fees received by Ticketmaster for tickets sold on its clients' behalf. Ticketmaster generally serves as an exclusive agent for its clients and typically has no financial risk for unsold tickets” ("Ticketmaster Entertainment LLC - Annual Report (10-K) Part I", 2013). Advanced Product Suite allows clients/organizations to manage the inventory of repeat customers in a Vendor Managed Inventory system manner, while Access Manager is viable in a Consumer Inventory...
