This memorandum details the action plan that is needed to address the current situation of Weymouth Steel Corporation. The upper management of Weymouth Steel Corporation is faced with a challenging scenario of communicating good and bad to its employees. The purpose of this memorandum is to outline an implementation strategy for managers and supervisors of Weymouth Steel Corporation.

Due to the growing competition in the steel industry, Weymouth Steel Corporation is faced with a challenging situation to terminate a sizable number of salaried and hourly employees. At the same time the salaried employees will be entitled to a salary increase and improved benefits. In order to address the overriding concerns, it is recommended that the tasks be broken into smaller pieces so that it is easy to communicate and process the information.

The first task for upper management should be to convey the company’s financial standing to all of its employees. To achieve this task, a memo should be sent by the Vice President of the company to all employees. The memo should not only include the current financial standing, but should also elaborate on the long-term investment that the company is planning to make. Details on the purchase of new equipment should be included in the memo. It is vital to communicate the long-term vision of the company in this memo. This memo will serve two purposes. Firstly, it will convey a message that the company is going through difficult times. Secondly, it will communicate the company’s vision and potential to operate in a competitive environment.
