ARSENAL’S CHANCES OF WINNING A TROPHY ARE AS GOOD AS THEIR SIGNINGS.

Yet another season empty handed for the ‘Gooners’ and I think it’s safe to say that most Arsenal fans would be looking forward to up and coming seasons in hope rather than expectation. For a team that is bursting with talent and so much potential one must be wondering why they have failed to notch up any significant success over the past 7 years or so……still wondering why??, here are a few reasons

* Arsene Wenger’s unwillingness to come to terms with reality; it is no secret that modern football has evolved and taken a more business trend and your chances of playing top flight football and rubbing shoulders with the Elite depend on your financial muscles. Wengers philosophy of buy cheap and sell for big money is laudable but at the end of the day (with all due respect) you don’t expect $500,000 signings to win you trophies. Big European clubs spend huge sums on players not to prove that they have deep pockets(even though some sums are quite outrageous!!), but with these mega singings come expectations of results, and these teams spend money on quality which sooner or later pays off!.As long as Wenger continues to see spending $25 million or more pounds on a player who is worth every penny as outrageous, his team’s chances of building a formidable team to mount any serious title threat of any sort would be very very slim.

* Lack of mental strength and character; three seasons ago Arsenal lead the premier league table for close to ¾ of the season only to feebly surrender the title to a determined and consistent Manchester United side.., the reason??, quite simple if you ask me, the players were just overwhelmed by the stage, having lost the sense of what winning felt like and getting so close yet so far from the title, there begun to be jitters in the play of a team that had been near flawless all season!, inexplicable draws consecutively right at the end cost them the title, with no...
