Instructions: In Part A students are to choose THREE of the 7 questions. Each question should be no longer than 3 pages in length (12 point font, double spaced). All students are required to answer ALL of the questions in PART B. Your responses to all of the questions should be no longer than 6 pages in length. ( 12 point font, double spaced) Total assignment should be no longer than 15 pages in length. Part A-Theory Students should respond to three of the following questions (15 marks total-each question is worth 5 marks). 1) Describe the basic assumptions of strengths perspective and discuss the relevance to social work practice. 2) Why is it important to understand the philosophical underpinnings of a theory, discuss fully, using examples of the importance to social work practice. 3) Some systems based theories have been criticized for their conservative nature and acceptance of the status quo. Discuss fully, giving examples. 4) Describe the controversy regarding recovered memories of childhood sexual abuse and delineate the arguments on both sides. Discuss the research findings and their implication for social work practice. 5) Discuss the way in which social, economic, and technological change has impacted family structure in Canada. Give examples of new family forms that have emerged from this change and discuss the implications for social work practice with families. 6) Compare and contrast the research findings on men`s and women`s development. Discuss the relevance to social work practice. 7) Compare and contrast Kohlberg`s and Gilligan`s stages of moral development and discuss the degree of empirical support for each.
