In A Pit With A Lion On A Snowy Day

In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day is inspired by one of the most courageous acts recorded in Scripture, “Benaiah chased a lion down into a pit. Then, despite the snow and slippery ground, he caught the lion and killed it” (2 Samuel 23:20 -21). The point here is a fairly simple one: the things you fear may very well be opportunities that God has put in your path, and you should probably act on those opportunities. The author explains the value in taking risks very well. He paints a bigger picture of our lives the way that God sees them and the way that we should also see them. What may be a fork in the road to us, is a simple stepping stone toward greater things. Through stories of personal experiences and those of his friends, he gives plenty of examples of how one small choice changed a person’s life when you’re focused on chasing lions. He reminds us that, with God on our side, anything can happen! He uses several of his own life experiences as examples to explain a very short story from 2 Samuel 23:21-22. The story of Benaiah. Who was a hero! In this very short story we learn of some great big decisions Benaiah made that really blessed his life and gained him great honor. I love the way Mark explains the story by applying it to life today, is a great encouragement and very useful lessons that can be easily applied to everyday life. Benaiah chased a real live lion into a pit on a snowy day. Of course there are no "real" lion's we can chase, but we can use the same principal to "chase" opportunities that come our way and to chase away fear of limitations that has us bound in chains, this is what the author is encouraging us to do over and over again in his book to the point that he becomes repetitive, which sometimes I didn’t enjoy, but just like you said, he is just truing to make a point.
