The Devil’s Brother

Oh, how I curse you Luke Ravenwood! How I curse your life and your existence! You were my brother for 15 years before you turned into the monster you are now. You were supposed to be an empath, a caster who can feel people’s feelings. Couldn’t you feel mother and fathers love for you? Didn’t you feel their warmth even as you betrayed the family and chose to join the dark side? Even though you are meant to forget those you love when you go evil, couldn’t you fight it and remember all those that loved you and what they had done for you? But no you couldn’t; unfortunately you turned into a monster. You made me perceive at life in a different way. After your “little incident” you made me realize that death is a long, insidious snout sucking the very life out of its prey, and you are the predator.

I remembered the afternoon of my 16th birthday, the day I chose to go light. Sunshine smirked down onto the fields below, showering them in a soft glow. The heartfelt rays drizzled joyfully onto my skin making the army of little hairs rise like they are ready for battle. Due to my family’s inheritance of being casters - mystical and supernatural beings with the ability to use magic known as casting - each boy and girl has to choose, on their 16th Birthday, whether to go light or dark – good or evil. I apparently am meant to be a natural caster. Me! Out of everyone I know - I am meant to be the most powerful caster, with the ability to influence the elements. It makes sense as I unsurprisingly feel close to Nature. I observed each flowers detail, zooming on every petal, the parts of which seemed to be a gigantic puzzle. As I recognized each sound of the trees, through my unusual senses; I heard the swaying of the winds sounding like Beethoven’s last score: soulful, soft and symphonizing. Making out each distinctive smell or fragrance of every tiny creature, as I marvelled at my abilities; the purple butterfly flew past me with the strong smell...
