Chapter 1: Introduction

“Modern technology has become a total phenomenon for civilization, the defining force of a new social order in which efficiency is no longer an option but a necessity imposed on all human activity. – Jacques Ellul ” The boom of technology has been a great help to many people. From the moment waking up in the morning until sleeping at night, modern creations surrounds us to make work easier and more accurate.

The development of technology has conquered almost every company in the country. Organizations have acquired different systems to help in developing business especially in sales and everyday transactions. These systems have developed and improved businesses and communication with the customers.

But not all industries have followed in modernizing their businesses. One of the left behind in the technology is the restaurant industry. Currently, the customer will order food in a menu book then the waiter will write the ordered food in a piece of paper. The waiter will inform the kitchen the orders of the customers. These may lead to confusion in the kitchen especially during peak hours or times when there are many customers when orders are misplaced thaw will make the delivery of food slower.

Recently, a new system was introduced in the society to help the restaurant industry. The E-Menu system is a simple digital touch screen computer with restaurant menu on it with actual photos of the dishes and descriptions of the food. Replacing the old way of ordering from a menu book, customers will place their order in an Android tablet, a popular gadget nowadays, and send directly the orders to a monitor in the kitchen.

Many restaurants around the world has acquired this latest development to help in their businesses. The proponents chose to create and introduce the system to the country hoping to give the restaurant industry in the country a glimpse of the E-Menu system hopingt hat one day restaurants in the Philippines will be following...
