Scheelite Upgrading a Gravity Separator, and Scheelite

The scheelite inlay is very fine in China and the content is also very low, so milling is a must to liberate scheelite granules. The milled scheelite can be separation and purified by floatation separation because it is too fine for gravity separation to work. Scheelite floatation separation is mature and all indexes can be met. But floatation separation needs chemicals to work and it is unfriendly to environment with its large plant investment and high operation cost.However, floatation separation is not the only way to get high grade scheelite concentrate, and for some scheelite mines, floatation separation is not so good as gravity separation to get final scheelite concentrate, and gravity separation will be a much better method to work. In Africa, there are many scheelite tungsten mines with big coarse scheelite inlay size even about 30mm, and here gravity separation can be used to recover the coarse scheelite and this lowers the scheelite loss due to crushing or milling. If floatation separation is used for this kind of coarse scheelite ore, the recovery will be lowered and this will be not so good as gravity separation.The density of scheelite is 6.1g/cm3 while that of the impurities is not more than 3g/cm3, so gravity separation can really work well for this kind scheelite mine.
