Abstract: The key motivation of our paper will be to assess the barriers to entry of cloud technology in the SMEs. Nowadays cloud based ICT solutions are in full force , then why is it that the acceptance and interest of these services is low in SMEs. This study emphasis that the failure of not using cloud by the SMES is due to poor internet connectivity, security of cloud services, lack of trust, interoperability, and high switching cost as the main barriers to adoption by the SMEs. Also top management support , mentality of trail ability, resistance to new technology , compatibility and existence of IT infrastructure as the key factors influencing adoption of cloud computing. The findings in this research will help cloud service providers and technologists to device new, attractive and supportive offerings for the SMEs in specific.

Technology has affected the working styles of SMEs in the last decade, and we are asking the SMEs now to shift towards cloud. Why will they shift? Drivers and barriiers of cloud computing : Information technology has become mandatory nowadays for all businesses. It is no longer a luxury, it is a necessity. Although cloud computing offers attractive and compelling features still it has got unique challenges which also discourages its adoption even after advancements in technology, thus it makes it extremely imperative to look into the drivers and barriers.

Drivers of cloud computing We have to outline the strategic, technical and economic benefits of cloud that drives it adoption. We know that funding and cost control is the biggest challenge of SMEs , a clear benefit is in terms of CAPEX and OPEX , also cloud reduces the upfront expenses since the services are available on demand on pay-per-use pricing basis costs involving hardware purchases, maintenance, software, system...
