America Revealed: Nation on the Move Review

In the documentary American Revealed: Nation on the Move Yul Kwon explains to us the different transportation methods that are used in America. Inside of America we currently have 4 million roads, 5 thousand airport, and 2 million railroads that are used to commute people and goods across this nation. This is also known as the largest transportation network in history but America’s biggest challenge in the 21st century to keep up with the modes of transportation to cities that are constantly growing and the demands for transportation becomes more from the people of this nation. Yul Kwon starts his journey off in New York where transportation is majorly used from people. Besides, planes, cars, taxi and etc. New Yorkers often travel on ferry’s which carries about 65,000 people. Another source used is the Grand Central Station and the Pennsylvania Station where almost 5 million passengers use the subway to commute. Subways are a crucial need in a very busy city like New York City, without it traffic will become overwhelmed and the city will not function correctly.

In the early 1900’s the very first track was laid and a 100 years later it expanded to others burrows also known as “The tracks that lead to nowhere”. These tracks were promised to the citizens of New Yorkers of new open land as they commute back and forth to work but the Great Depression happened and quickly followed afterwards was WWII.

Our nation depends on freights to carry goods from coast to coast. We have the world’s most inefficient and profitable freight system moving nearly 10 times much as Europe. Every freight goes through Chicago’s Illinois freight yard. The freight system can be challenging because the freights have to go through a place called double humping workers began to do the “humping” process which is another word for classifying different freight cars.
