Global marketplaces can be a tricky industry. Having something that can relate to multiple nations can be a daunting and complicated, offending people can come easy that that could easily ruin any time of overseas franchise.

When trying to increase US sports franchises aboard I think one of the most  important factors is branding. Especially when trying to increase sales being able to include different cultures is key. People from other countries want to have a sense of pride just like everyone else and I believe that if sport franchises had a player or spokesperson from which ever country they were trying to appeal to that could greatly increase pride which increases sales. Sports teams that portray someone that is internationally recognized will make that other people in that country feel like they can identity with a figure suitable for the task. Another way of branding is making sure that the games being broadcast have translations for the different countries. A language barrier is a main issue to overcome, having someone to translate the game and rules could make more foreigners interested in sporting events. Finally, franchises need to be aware of traditions and or religions.Some countries have different thoughts on appropriate attire and even having women in sports at all. Sports franchises just need to be aware of who and what they are trying to appeal to and be sure to do the research on that particular country.

   

One way for franchises to appropriately ensure products for international markets is to find someone from the same country and consult with them. By having someone to consult with you can be sure that you don't have a product that could offend any regions or traditions.
