3. Course Objectives and Learning Outcomes
4.4. Objectives:
This course is designed to give students a comprehensive view of communication, its scope and importance in business, and the role of communication in establishing a favorable outside the firm environment, as well as an effective internal communications program. The various types of business communication media are covered. This course also develops an awareness of the importance of succinct written expression to modern business communication.
4.5. Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:
* Identify the role and process of communication as a means of achieving organizational objectives.
* Define communication and explain communication barriers.
* Identify the different types of writing performed by business professionals in each of the various functional areas of business.
* Strengthen perception skills by recognizing nonverbal responses; by improving listening skills; and by analyzing personal value systems; role and status, and cultural differences in organizational communication.
* Use a clear, concise, convincing, and correct style of writing for business purposes.
