Introduction

Critical success factors are measures of those aspects of the firm’s performance that are essential to its competitive advantage and therefore to its success. According Blocher, Stout and Cokins (2010), many critical success factors are financial, with a few focusing on non-financial factors. This paper will focus on analyzing and evaluating the critical success factors provided by the balance scorecard of an automobile dealership located in Lynchburg. It will briefly describe the company; each critical success factors the company focuses on evaluate into detail the main critical factor of the company, and whether it is achieving its aim.

Company Overview

Billy Craft Honda is automotive dealer located on old forest Road in Lynchburg Virginia that serves the Roanoke, Lynchburg, Forest, and Charlottesville community. It primary deals with sales of pre-owned and new vehicles. It also manages a service and parts, detailing, and body shop departments.

Critical Success Factors

Upon interviewing Eddie Solito and Justin Morgan the two sales managers for the company, Billy craft Honda does focus on financial factors such as sales and profitability, but their major focus is mostly on non-financial factors especially on customer satisfaction, and internal processes, because the nonfinancial metrics are good predictors of future financial performance.

Financial performance is the measure that shows if a business is doing well in terms of profitability and adding value for shareholders. It shows economic consequences of actions that has already taken place. It is obvious that the company is very profitable because it has expanded from being just a single dealership into three different dealerships in the Lynchburg area. For the Honda dealership it recorded sales increase in the first half of the year as compared to the previous year.
