The authors have described what expectations should a parent bear in mind while selecting an appropriate Assistive Learning Technology (ALT) tool for their kids with any kind of disability or impairment. They mainly involve understanding the limitations and scope of various ALTs and making sure that the child is an essential part of the selection process. Its also important to stay updated about the various smartphone apps available in the market and to make sure that the software and hardware one has will be able to support the require ALT that is selected.

The author also cautions to first explore low cost alternatives and to be prepared to find the best ALT for your child as there is a no one size fits all policy in the case of selecting an ALT.

The strength of this article is the concise and to the point nature of the language. There are no hidden meanings and everything is clearly defined. The methods discussed here are easy to implement and understand.

The most visible limitation is that the article is touching the subject on a very shallow level, any parent looking for an ALT for their kid would want to carry out an in depth study before finalizing any one ALT.

The study would have been helpful had the author included case studies or examples of how parents have gone through certain steps to arrive at the correct ALT for their kids and how it actually helped the kid do better in his/her life.
