In the young adult section in the bookstore, utopian books can be found around every corner. Divergent and The Hunger Games are the trilogies that are on every person’s reading list. These two trilogies have a strong leading female, a corrupt government, and an unfortunate decision for young children. Many people believe that they have to choose a side when it comes to these books. Unfortunately, people never realize how similar the two are since they decide to pick one over the other.

Katniss Everdeen and Beatrice Prior are the leading ladies who have so much in common that it is unbearable. Their families have a major role in all of their decisions, which leads to them changing their whole lives. Katniss risked her own life to save her sister from being killed at the hands of another child. The parents of Beatrice Prior gave up their own lives, just so she could save the city from destruction. Katniss and Beatrice also share a strong survival instinct. When put in the face of danger, running is not an option for these two. They fight to the death for what they believe in. The personalities of these two leading ladies make their stories famous.

Every government has its issues, but the ones depicted in the two trilogies are extremely horrifying. In The Hunger Games, President Snow is the definition of a complete dictator. He wants to be the only person who can control all of the districts. In Divergent, the faction known as Erudite wants to take the control of the city away from the Abnegation. Erudite tries to destroy everyone in their way of getting the complete power that they believe they deserve. The mastermind behind all of Erudite’s plans is Jeanine Matthews. Each story has a power crazed leader, who kills innocent individuals so that no one can oppose them.
