1 & 2) CDC emerging infectious diseases:

One disease that is emerging among the population is MRSA. Associated conditions are the following.

- Soft tissue infections and pneumonia

- Distinct genetic origin to hospital associated MRSA

- Spread by close contact

- Can cause invasive illness

- Can spread in hospitals

- Treatment depends on clinical presentation

Another disease that’s emerging is the resurgence of tuberculosis. Associated conditions are the following.

- Inadequate funding for TB control programs

- HIV epidemic

- Increased immigration from TB endemic countries

- Spread in homeless shelters and correctional facilities

- Increase and spread of multi-drug‐resistant TB

3) CDC current tuberculosis and the highest numbers of infection in the United States:

A total of 9,582 TB cases (a rate of 3.0 cases per 100,000 persons) were reported in the United States in 2013. Since the 1992 TB resurgence peak in the United States, the number of TB cases reported annually has decreased. The states with the highest number of reported infections are California, Texas, New York, and Florida, accounting for 51.3% of all TB cases. These states have high numbers of foreign-born residents, and they are also among the 15 states with the highest rates of homelessness.

4) Polio and recent outbreaks around the world:

Back in May 2014 the spread of polio around the world has become so serious it is now an international public health emergency, the World Health Organization warned. The agency said the problem could grow in the next few months and unravel the nearly three-decade effort to eradicate the disease. It described current polio outbreaks in Asia, Africa and the Middle East as an 'extraordinary event' that required a coordinated international response. It was the first-ever international alert on polio. The cause of these outbreaks has been found in the water and has also been identified in the sewage systems....
