“The Monkey’s Paw.” The short story endures as one of the most frequently adapted and parodied horror stories of the past century. In this essay I will be pointing out the differences between the book, and the movie of The Monkeys Paw. It is you choice which one you like. I will three differences.

In the movie the man wishes for three hundred pounds to see if it works. In the book the man wishes for two hundred pounds for the house. In the book Father seems like he’s joking. In the movie Herbert makes a joke about it.

In the book when they find out Herbert dies the man faints. Although in the movie the woman faints. In the book when the man faint it makes sense because he wished. When the women faint in the movie it seems more likely. The movie is a little more detailed then the book.

In the book it ended with Father killing Herbert again. In the movie it ended with all of them dead (Father, Mother) lying on Herbert’s grave. The father also had the monkey’s paw. I’m the book it didn’t show what happened to them later. The movie added onto the story.

In the movie it showed the paw getting cursed by people. In the book it didn’t show how the paw got cursed. The movie helped show how the wishes happened; with the paw getting cursed. In the book it was just able to grant three wishes. There was no reason why it could.

They are both great. It’s your choice which one you like better. I think the movie is better though.
