Argument related to environment-ex global warming

The term global warming simply refers to an increase in the experienced temperatures. It is a phenomenon that has drawn a lot of attention from governments, environmentalists, agriculturalists, human rights groups as well scholars because of the potential destruction that this phenomenon carries. As such, scholars have struggled to give a universal definition of the topic but have not come to a consensus. For example Leddy (139), defines global warming as the resultant effect of emission of air pollutants due to increased greenhouse activities which has the potential to raise the average atmospheric temperatures. According to Feldman (3), global warming is the rise in the earth’s surface temperature. Global warming captured the world’s attention in the 1850s when scientists made some discoveries in instruments used for measurements of temperatures. This phenomenon can not therefore be said to have started in 1850s but can be said to have been present even before measurement technologies proved that global warming was actually taking place. After this phenomenon was discovered, there developed debates and controversies with most of them rotating around the causes. The opponents in these controversies do not differ on the fact that global temperatures are on the increase but their bone of contention is the causes of this phenomenon. The main question that led to this controversy was, ‘is global warming caused by human activities or it is a result of natural processes?’ Scholars developed approaches to this question by building on the theory known as Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW).

AGW theory detailed the causes of global warming and then led to formation of more theories under it as scholars attempted to explain their opinions. However, it is the report that was made by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) that aroused so many controversies. According to...
