All of our lessons and articles have been very interesting so far. They are interesting because most of the time there are an endless array of possibilities that could serve as an appropriate solution. One of the reasons for this is because of the interplay between the world as we see it in our reality and the actual world, the ever evolving planet. Singer’s article explicitly states that the earth has been warming lately, and seemingly makes the argument that it is in part, the result of human beings, implicitly. Otherwise, there would be no need to determine the responsibility of the United States by varying metrics of who benefited and how much, and how that affects their responsibility. How can we be absolutely sure about causation of global warming though? Science, like the world, is constantly evolving. Answers that seemed fact decades ago are today’s fiction. Many examples are abound, but a very related earth ending scenario was thought to be reality in the nineteenth century when science found substantial evidence that the heat death of the universe was sure to happen, but half a century later, new science evolved and determined that it wasn’t really a threat. Science is the best guess at the current time, even if backed by all of the current evidence in the world. This is so because while we are marvelous creatures of the earth, and arguably the most sophisticated, we are a species with a limited capacity for a framework that is just too narrow for a universe riddled with deep, deep mysteries. Also, what is science? If you think about it, it’s political and funded by organizations who have some stake in it.

Even though we know science can be biased and so incomplete, there are still facts to contend with. We know that Earth is getting warmer, but through its past, Earth has had both sustaining warmer and colder temperatures. It’s safe to say it’s true that small degrees of temperature changes can affect the way Earth exists, since we can...
