Big Data relating to Business Intelligence

The book discusses about the three dimensions to big data, known as the 3 Vs: volume, variety, and velocity. It gives a brief definition of each dimensions and how interrelates to business intelligence. Therefore, it tells about the industries that benefit from big data analytics and how it can gain a competitive advantage. The article does relate and align with the textbook on page 61 under the heading, “Tools and Technologies of Big Data”, on how much contributions from social network and mobile wireless technology has affected to big data. Furthermore, it tells you about the platform for big data analytics such as Apache Hadoop that uses Hadoop Distributed Fil System to manage storage. Hadoop lets you store many files bigger than what can be stored on one server. In addition, it processes data that improves the efficiency of industries in business intelligence. By explaining how mobility contributes to big data in making immediate decision-making capability and intelligence on your mobile phone. Therefore, you will be able to implement new business processes that will change the business. For example, a delivery company with trucks in the field can improve on first generation, efficiently routing tools by sophisticated tools that can anticipate traffic conditions.

Big data applications are different compared to other applications that just look from one source of data. It examines a broad range of sources that includes structured information such as customer relationship management, purchase histories, and intelligence from industry partners that are involved with credit card companies and hotels.
