Executive Summary

Lack of potable water supply during natural calamities and man-made disasters has been a major concern in our country. Philippines is a place where a lot disasters and calamities devastate and destroy the countries’ natural resources. And oftentimes, our water supplies are greatly affected. Public and the Government Sectors are discussing on how well to provide the people with enough access of water supplies that are safe to drink and not contaminated with any type of bacteria. With the great admiration of MMSU in the leadership of Dr.Chelo Pascua, the Co-Project Leader, Engr. Thomas Ubina, and Co-Proponent: Engr. Ian Romas, has produced on eproduct which is called, Por-Mull Water Filter.

Out of some different local materials and a Red Clay that can only be found in Ilocos Province, MMSU, particularly the College of Engineering, with the has come out with a product that is beneficial and more convenient for human use, the Por-Mull Water Filter. The Por-Mull Water Filter is a product that was invented for human consumption, providing access to drinking water to everyone at any time especially during natural calamities and man-made. The Por-Mull Water Filter has been featured and has found that it is capable of filtering out or particulate, bacteriological contaminants. Furthermore, revisions on the designs and improvements has been undergoing by collaborating with scientists, engineers and end-users that will be incorporated. More so, this will enable its use not only during disasters but also as a fixed appliance in each home that depends on the needs of home end-users. Hence, due to a great admiration to offer their social and environmental concern, MMSU has planned to feature the product to the government that can also be a benefit to the people. Por-Mull Water Filter’s lifetime use and durability will be highlighted as the key marketing point.
