Heqep Bangladesh

Higher education has a vital role in contributing to the development of all the aspects of a country. Failure to keep the quality of higher education to global standard can lead a country backwards in this era of global challenge.

To meet these challenges, Bangladesh Ministry of Education, with the assistance of World Bank, has undertaken a Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP). The University grant commission of Bangladesh is the implementing agency of the project.

HEQEP comprises five components

* Promoting Academic Innovation through an academic innovation fund (AIF)

* Building Institutional Capacity

* Raising the Connectivity Capacity of the Higher Education Sector

* Establishment of quality assurance mechanism at national and institutional level

* Support to the operation of the project implementation unit

The Project started implementing in 2009, and the closing is in December 2018.

The Promotional activity of Academic Innovation Fund began with the launching function at UGC and eventually all public universities. Particiapants of the promotion workshop were mostly members of university academic communities.

So far Academic innovation Fund executed 3 (three) rounds of projects in 2010, 2012 and 2014.
