Beauty is defined by the combination of qualities that exist in a thing or person that satisfies the visual senses or brings about intense pleasure. Many people take the word beauty and define it as a person’s outward appearance. Although a person’s outer appearance can be defined by the term beauty, true beauty lies inside a person such as the way a person acts and thinks rather than what they look like on the outside. 

The term beauty is individual to each and every person. Today, there is so much emphasis placed on a person’s physical appearance. Only the most physically attractive girls and guys are known as “beautiful” and desirable, and those individuals who don’t meet society’s standards of “beauty” are mocked or put down. However, beauty doesn’t always have to mean the outward appearance of a person. Beauty can define a person’s heart and personality. It can describe a gorgeous view or it can explain a person’s actions. It’s true that a person’s appearance can be described as beautiful as well, but that is only part of the definition of beauty. A person can be beautiful just from the way they act towards others or the way they go about their daily lives. True beauty or inner beauty is seen with the heart. Real beauty is rarely seen by people. Confucius once stated: “Everything has beauty, but not everyone can see it.” This philosopher explains that true beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If you are a person who is good at reading people you can see a person’s true character. Through looking deep into their soul, you can feel the person’s ambiance and emotion, whether they are positive or in a state of misery. Life is easier if we agree with what is real.
