Describe the potential customer or market characteristics based on initial research and exploration of ideas:

As government and commercial utilization of aerospace science continues to grow, so does the need for new ways to build on, and strengthen the capture of that science. Magnetostrictive regulators provide a capability to increase the utilization of one of the fastest growing aerospace tools, the use of Nanosatellites, and therefore, have strong market potential.

Nanosatellites, also known as cubeSats, are small, inexpensive ways for government and commercial sectors to gain access to space science. They are steadily changing the aerospace business, as there is an increased desire among the science community to gather ground breaking information through global imaging. The sheer growth in quantity will help build a market for the magnetostrictive regulators/valves.

In recent years, the decrease in cost, and the increase in accessibility of Nanosatellites has steadily grown, and forecasters predict it will continue in that path. In 2014, ninety-four Nanosatellites (cubeSats) were launched into low earth orbit, supporting the realization that small, more affordable satellites have moved from experimental information gathering, to providing realistic scientific and commercially viable data. This innovative method of data recording, coupled with the cost effectiveness of these nanosatellites has created an expanded market place that projects an estimated one-thousand launches in the next five years.

Presently, nanosatellites are limited by their inability to propel themselves beyond their initial position. They are currently set into place as payloads on commercial and governmental launch vehicles, whose launch operators are able to prevent nanosats form carrying hazardous propellants on board their vehicles. These are limitations that have created the need to supplement the previously unneeded ability for individual unit propulsion, with various...
