• In your own words, explain why you think it is important to put observations in writing. How can observation enrich our writing?

It is important to put observation into writing so you can figure out what information is valuable and what can be omitted. It can allow you to also build on ideas and ensure that you are focusing on the points of interest.

• What role does observation play in your current job or your behavior as a parent? How do you think learning and writing about observing the world around you will be beneficial in your future career?

Observation plays a role in my job because I have to focus on the key points of each customer’s individual case. It helps me to locate all of the key information of the issue at hand. Observation allows me to locate what the customer already knows and decipher what they need to know.

In every job, attention to detail is very important. Practicing observation skills with writing and physically observing will help to build on that.

• Choose one of the sample observation essays from pages 96-104 in the textbook. Identify how the author's use of observation improved the writing. Choose one quality or characteristic of the sample essay that you selected, and discuss how you plan to use that quality in your own observation essay.

It allowed him to go into detail about not just the fact that there aren’t as many porches but why as well. I don’t want to just focus on one aspect of the topic. I want to provide a defined verbalization of my subject. I want to cover multiple aspects as he did.
