Twisted evening

There was nothing in that rainy Saturday evening that would foreshadow that it was going to mark and bring such a tremendous fear to my life. The rain was falling down like stones upon the weathered roof. It made the atmosphere even darker and stuffier than it usually was, which was a great feat. Mom and dad had gone out to get some things we needed for house. I was alone at home and all catastrophy began from the moment they left the house.

So, they left me with a list of tasks to do and one of them was to bring the mail up from the mailbox. As I was running down to the mailbox, I noticed that the rain was beginning to intensify and I heard a rumble of thunder in the distance. I come back inside in a hurry, remembering to lock the door when it was shut. Then I decided to take a shower and relax.

As I stepped into the bathroom, I felt a harsh breeze slap in the face and I realized I had left the window open after cleaning it, thus letting the cold air blow into the room. As I shut it, I saw a fog that had condensed on the mirror with a sort of strange smudges cutting through her. My initial thought was that they looked almost like claw marks, but I decided to take my shower and I dried off without a second thought.

When I was back to the kitchen to make a dinner, I saw that the door I went through to get the mail was unlocked. I was shocked, because I was almost sure that I had locked the door, and nothing could have come in... Or something got out? I don't know, but I wish it was just my memory that plays trics on me. I re-locked the door and know I was sure that I did that.

I put some food in the microwave to heat it up then I gazed out the large old window at the head of the table. The rain was heavy now. The frequent flashing of lighting and roar of thunder always seemed to keep me up, whether because I was in awe of nature's power or just plain terrified I do not know.
